Our head receptionist Michele joined HEAC in May of 2012. She has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years in all capacities – both general and specialty practice. After earning her degree from Indiana University, teaching high school health education and spending a month in Africa, she knew she was destined to work in the veterinary field. She received certification at the Animal Care Consultant School in Los Angeles. With her dedication to excellent customer service, belief in providing high quality medicine and client education, she was asked to open a new veterinary clinic…the rest is veterinary history. She is owned by 11 rescue cats and 2 dogs!
Mary has been a receptionist at Halsey East since 1998 where she found her second family. She thinks it’s wonderful working here and enjoys all the pets and owners. She has been married for 45 years and has 2 children, 4 grandchildren, a cat named Buster, and a dog named Clark Kent Superdog. Her hobbies include gardening, different kinds of needle work, and playing with her Hot Rod.
Mary joined Halsey East as a receptionist in the spring of 2006. She came to Portland from Southern California where she worked as a receptionist for a 2 doctor animal hospital in Culver City for almost 10 years. Mary shares her home with 6 cats, ranging in age from 3 to 17 years. All are rescues adopted from the clinics where she has worked. Cats permitting, Mary enjoys needlepoint and counted cross stitch and loves having access to the local library.
Laurel joined the Halsey East reception team in February 2008. She is the mother of three, grandmother of three and presently shares her home with five cats and two dogs. Working at the clinic provides a great opportunity to meet a wonderful variety of pets and people. Gardening and coastal travel are favorite pastimes away from the clinic.
Kate joined the Halsey team in the spring of 2014. Kate is a Vancouver-ite who has 4 years management experience at a "big box pet store". When Kate isn't providing excellent customer service here at Halsey, she is with her husband and adorable son, surrounded by 3 dogs and a cat.
